Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. The couple was moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five years old and attended an academy called the Dragon School. Emma was only six when she realized she wanted to pursue a career as an actress. She studied for a number of years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford in which she learned acting and singing. At the age of ten she was involved and played the leading role in a number of Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The movie adaptation of J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was first cast for the first time in 1999. Emma was found by agents via the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were chosen to play the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the big screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. The film broke records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs and became the top-grossing movie in 2001. Film critics praised the film as well as the performances of the three leading actors of the young generation. The Daily Telegraph, an important British newspaper, called Emma's performance "amazing". Emma was awarded five nominations for her exceptional performance.
